We have a home for Hanuman on maui!

We inaugurated our new Hanuman Mandir on July 24, 2021 on Guru Purnima!

This small mandir serves as a house of prayer for devotees to connect with Hanuman-ji and the energies of unconditional love, service and devotion.  It is at the front of property, next to the Ram Dass Loving Awareness Garden where some of Ram Dass’s ashes are planted with a new mango tree.

The inspiration for Hanuman's presence on Maui comes from Ram Dass, Neem Karoli Baba, and the Bhakti tradition, as well as from the special energy of Maui. Maui naturally exudes Aloha, the same divine loving energy represented by Hanuman.

Hawaiian Blessing

On May 26, the day of the full moon, Lei'ohu Ryder and her partner Maydeen 'Iao, Hawaiian spiritual leaders and friends, shared a powerful Hawaiian blessing.

Lei'ohu shares -

"The voice of the wind caressed all who entered the precious land, the 'aina where the Mandir was going to be created. Sunrays pierced through the atmosphere and anointed a portal of our being, from our backbone, our head, grounded on the land.

As we circled and witnessed, it was about the kuleana, the responsibility of witnessing that in the diversity of this moment we were creating something beautiful. For each of us. Honoring Ram Dass, honoring the Hanuman Temple, and Maharaj-ji and the blood and bones of the aina that feeds aloha and the sacred island of Maui Nui.

It blessed, it honored and it invited that each of us remember to feast on love with every choice, every breath, every honoring, everywhere as our beloved Ram Dass did and taught us to do. So with aloha grounded, there are many beautiful gifts that come, resonating in this beautiful sanctuary of loving awareness, of aloha awareness, of life and spirit awareness."

Hawaiian Hanuman murti

Completed in April, 2019, our Hawaiian Hanuman Murti is carved out of native Monkeypod wood by William "Aloha" Pasina, an amazing Polynesian artist with the requisite big heart. The Murti was welcomed as a full manifestation of Hanumanji by Ram Dass within hours after the sacred carving was completed.

Built with Aircrete

Aerated concrete, or “Aircrete” is a lightweight, non-toxic masonry material made with cement, water and soap foam. Using this material we can build a long lasting, fire, insect, and mold resistant structure with considerably less concrete.
